H.E. General the Hon. David Hurley AC DSC (Retd.) Governor-General of Australia was appointed as the 27th Governor-General of Australia in July 2019. After a long and distinguished military career culminating in his appointment as Chief of the Defence Force in July 2011, he became Governor of New South Wales in October 2014 a few months after he retired from the Army. His appointment as Governor-General followed shortly after his term as Governor ended.
