On what would have been her 100th birthday, we remember Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II who was our Patron, and the Commonwealth's most devoted champion.
From 1952, when she became Head of the Commonwealth at just 26 years old, to the very end of her reign, her dedication to the Commonwealth was unparalleled and unwavering.
The images we share here offer a glimpse of that extraordinary legacy. We are honoured to include photographs from her 92nd birthday celebration at the Royal Albert Hall, an event organised by the Royal Commonwealth Society, alongside moments from our Commonwealth Service of Celebration at Westminster Abbey, which she attended each year on all but three occasions.
Also close to her heart were The Queen's Young Leaders, which between 2015 and 2018 recognised 240 exceptional young people from across the Commonwealth, and The Queen's Commonwealth Canopy, launched in 2015 to unite all 56 member nations in the conservation of indigenous forests. Her Majesty also lent her name to The Queen's Commonwealth Writing Competition, the world's oldest international schools' writing competition, which the Royal Commonwealth Society has proudly delivered since 1883.
Her commitment to the Commonwealth's 2.7 billion people remains a great inspiration. We remember her today with profound admiration, and with gratitude for the privilege of her patronage.
